Score 98/100 · Drink 2003-2048, Pierre Rovani, Oct 2003

The 2000 #8 Welschriesling Trockenbeerenauslese Zwischen den Seen (7.5% alcohol, 314.2 grams residual sugar/liter, and 7.2 grams/liter total acidity) displays scents of smoky apricots, mangoes, botrytis-laden papayas, and passion fruit. White pepper, jammy peaches, pears, assorted exotic fruits and a myriad of spices are found in its viscous, syrup-like core. Immensely complex, dense, and outrageously concentrated, its interminable flavor profile refuses to relinquish its grasp on the palate. Drink it over the next 35-45+ years. This effort, because of its monstrous levels of residual sugar and low alcohol, is a dessert more than a wine ... yet is immensely impressive! Importer: Vin Divino, Chicago, IL; tel. (773) 334-6700
