Tasting notes
The 2023 Felsenberg GG is pure volcano! It's cool, fresh and elegant yet also generous in some ways. Still quite yeasty, this is elegant and delicate on the palate, which, despite its dense, aromatic and juicy texture, is also salty, spicy, fine, precise and thoroughly stimulating. This is still a baby, but something is developing here. Tasted at the Vorpremiere VDP.Grosses Gewächs in Wiesbaden in August 2024.

Smoky, floral and expressive – characteristic notes of spontaneous fermentation; restrained compared with other vintages. Powerhouse of wet stone and thrilling spice. Juicy citrus concentration, with a cool and elegant through-line, despite its youthful austerity. Refined nuance, especially on the endless saline finish. (PS)
Fantastic interplay of smoke, Thai basil, lime and pomelo aromas. For this site that tends in the direction of opulence, this is super-straight and precise, with just a hint of the pineapple aroma that’s sometimes very strong in the foreground. Super-clean with wet stones. The energy in the extremely pure and filigreed finish takes your breath away. From organically grown grapes with Fair\'n Green certification. Drink from release.
The 2023 Riesling Schlossböckelheimer Felsenberg Grosses Gewächs 2022 comes from various parcels across the three terraces of this site. Wet stone, smoke and petrichor give this a fragrant nature, almost devoid of fruit yet colored with creaminess and citrus. The palate is similarly austere, almost bare, yet it is a true and unadulterated picture of Riesling. So taut, so thrilling, so slender, it’s rapier-like in its uncompromising stoniness yet elegant in all its precision. (Bone-dry)
