Tasting notes
Displaying a saturated inky red color, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon SJ Ranch is ripe with lifted notes of menthol, blackberry, cassis, polished leather, and woodsy earth. Full-bodied, it’s plush and supple with a more velvety texture and a lush coating, offering a light creaminess of feel on the finish. It’s going to take time to shed some of its baby fat and drink over the coming 15-20 years.

The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon SJ Ranch, matured for 22 months in 90% new French oak, has dynamic aromas: red and black plums and cherries give way to nuances of lilac, licorice, tobacco and cast iron. The medium-bodied palate is concentrated and nuanced with impressively tempered ripeness and well-integrated new oak character. It’s structured by powdery tannins and seamless acidity and has a very long, spicy finish. 225 cases were made.
