Seamless, and refined, the red-purple 2019 Pinot Noir The Point moves into the blue-fruited spectrum, with attractive, layered aromas of black raspberry, lavender, leather, and wet stone. As it opens in the glass, it’s ripe and full on the palate, with a weightless feel, velvety tannins, and gorgeous clarity of framboise fruit through its long finish. The inaugural vintage for this exceptional wine, it’s a stunner. Drink 2024-2040.

Pale ruby with a touch of blue. It does not share the reductive volcanic quality of the other Chehalem Mountains wines from 2019 (Riverline, Chehalem Highlands, Highland Close). Felipe Ramirez suggests that this is due to the more-weathered volcanic material in this vineyard as opposed to the solid volcanic rock underlying the other vineyards. Anise and dark cherry – still earthy, but plusher and more forgiving than the others. Dark and soft on the nose. Firm tannin and expansive acid that prickles a bit on the sides of the tongue. Impactful. Not quite as singular as the rest of the portfolio but still incredibly balanced and lovely. (SCJ)

Dark, brilliant garnet. Powerful red and blue fruit preserve, incense, floral oil and smoky mineral scents are accompanied by hints of cola and Indian spices. Alluringly sweet and expansive on the palate, offering densely packed black raspberry, boysenberry, star anise and floral pastille flavors and a strong undercurrent of zesty minerality. Velvety tannins lend shape to a powerful, mineral-tinged finish that shows fine detail and wonderful persistence.
