2014 Corton Charlemagne

Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting, the 2014 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru from Sylvain Loichet has a conservative lime and citrus fruit-scented bouquet, pretty if lacking some complexity. The palate is simple but balanced, a little saline in the mouth, but like the aromatics, it requires more depth and personality, more terroir expression on the finish. It does improve a little in the glass, offering a touch of salinity on the finish. Don't feel you have to cellar this long-term—it is a capable Corton-Charlemagne.
