Score 89/100 · Drink 2014-2017, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Nov 2014
The 2012 Solea, an intriguing blend of Chardonnay and Nebbiolo with no skin contact, fermented together. Bright yellow stone fruits, smoke and spices are all laced together beautifully in the glass. The slightly reductive notes on the finish are quite Burgundian in inspiration. I am hardly a fan of Piedmontese whites, but the 2012 Solea is terrific.

About the producer

Roagna
Roagna is one of Italy’s finest estates, producing top, single-vineyard Nebbiolos in Barbaresco and Barolo. The estate’s Crichët Pajé Barbaresco is one of the rarest fine wine cuvées in Piedmont with fewer than 2,000 bottles produced each year.
