Magnum. Mid crimson. Good pace but it's still a little chunky. Especially in a magnum! Not really right for this Christmas. (JR)

Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Clos des Argillieres 2011 has a pleasant, smudged bouquet with raspberry, crushed strawberry and a touch of chlorophyll. It is well defined and lifted, though not overly complex. The palate is medium-bodied with a juicy, sappy entry. There is plenty of red fruit on the entry, although the finish feels a little pinched and reductive at the moment. Give this another 12 months in bottle.

Racy and rich. Dense and liquoreux. Solid and impressive. (JR)
