Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. There seems to be a subtle application of oak on the nose of the 2011 Chablis Grand Cru Valmur from Bessin that is very composed and pure, hints of apricot blossom, tinned peach and a hint of bruised apple, with an undertow of minerality that becomes more pronounced with aeration. The palate is well balanced with citrus lemon and mandarin on the entry and then dovetails into a structured and pleasantly austere finish that bodes well for the future. This is an outstanding Chablis from Bessin.
