Tasting notes
Leading off the reds, the 2013 Pinot Noir Bien Nacido Vineyard offers lots of mushroom, smoked meats, earthy, forest floor characteristics on the nose, but shows a lot more fruit and richness on the palate. Medium-bodied, deeply colored and nicely textured, this rock solid Pinot Noir was fermented with 20% whole clusters and spent 18 months in 33% new French oak. Drink bottles through 2023.

The 2013 Pinot Noir Bien Nacido Vineyards is relatively soft in this vintage. Sweet, floral and open-knit, the 2013 will drink well with minimal cellaring. The 2013 has lightened up considerably since I last tasted it in barrel. Sweet red cherry, mint, kirsch, rose petal and sweet spices give the 2013 much of its racy, forward personality.
Next to the Solomon Hills, the 2013 Pinot Noir Bien Nacido Vineyards is deep, dense and compact. Dark red plum, iron, smoke, spice and cedar meld together in an explosive Pinot with a bright, bright future.
