Tasting notes
A dark, super-intense, rich and complex wine. On the nose it shows restrained bramble fruit, vanilla, cloves, eucalyptus and leather. Lots of graphite on the palate, with firm, velvety tannins, chocolate flavors, refreshing acidity and a chalky, oaky finish. Drink or hold.

The 2023 Massetino is an attractive and expressive wine. Medium in body, the 2023 offers u an attractive mix of dark plum, mocha, new leather, cedar and espresso. Time in the glass brings out pretty floral and spice top notes. The oak and extraction feel just a bit pushed fo the wine's mid-weight structure. The 2023 was done in a period of transition with technical teams and winemakers, and that is evident in this particular vintage.
(Toscana IGT; 91% Merlot; 9% Cabernet Franc; 15% alcohol). The Cabernet Franc is less evident aromatically than in the 2022, though there’s only a fraction less. Elegant, harmonious, rather poised and classy. Slightly introvert at first. Creamy. With aeration this becomes more floral, with Iily and lilac notes the most evident . Wondrously fine-grained and incredibly deep, dark and rich at its sumptuous core. Very classical with a gracious evolution over the palate. Tapering towards the finish, but that is disrupted by the squeeze and grip of the tannins that form a delightful fantail.
About the producer

Established in the 1980s by Lodovico Antinori on the advice of André Tchelistcheff, Masseto was one of Tuscany’s first pure Merlot wines. Sibling to Ornellaia, the Super Tuscan is often considered the Pétrus of Italy – offering powerful, perfumed wines that are highly sought-after by collectors.
