Gibbston Valley where there were three frosts in 2023 so it was a late vintage. (Macushla is an Irish term of endearment.) Gentle with a note of green. A little demanding at present. (JR)

Pungent and powerful with a smoky reductiveness as well as bright cherry fruit. Fine, pliable tannins. The smoky note has a rubbery edge to it, but that's easy to overlook amid the fragrant violet and red-cherry flavours. (RH)

The 2023 Pinot Noir Macushla is pure, floral and fragrant. Juicy sweet fruit shines despite the 20% new oak, while mouthwatering acidity keeps it clean and a little crunchy. Although light on its feet, there is a sense of plumpness to the Macushla before it ties up tightly and leaves a firm line in its wake. Lovely at only 12.9% alcohol.
