Aged for 14 months in French oak (24% new). Blackcurrant and black cherry plus graphite and iron. Delightfully juicy fruit on the palate, and there are firm tannins to offset the high acid. Long finish with sweetly spiced oak. As always, this is a great benchmark for both region and variety. (RH)

Aged for 14 months in French oak (24% new). Cassis, capsicum, smoke – the triumvirate of great Coonawarra Cab, and this is as expressive and satisfying as ever. Finely tannic, balanced acidity, medium body – this is the benchmark. Drink now or keep it for a decade, because it will surely develop beautifully. (RH)

The 65th vintage of this wine, the 2020 Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon follows in a long line of great Black Label Cabernets famed for their dual attributes of immediate accessibility and surprising age worthiness. Here, the 202 vintage is bright and spicy, with layers of purple fruit and dark exotic spice. Lithe tannins shape the experience. Excellent.

This Coonawarra cabernet neatly combines ripe cassis and bramble fruit with a minty freshness and discreet toasty oak. A cool and focused wine with healthy tannins that nicely support the medium-bodied palate and help drive the long well-structured finish with some herbal notes. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
