Tasting notes
The 2008 Touriga Nacional is revisited this issue as part of the vertical presented. Tasted side-by-side with the 2007, on paper a much better vintage, I still maintain that this is better. A bit fuller bodied, for one thing, it still retains its elegance while also projecting stronger (if slightly funkier) aromatics. A bit tighter and more persistent on the finish, too, this simply seems more vibrant as well as more concentrated. Despite seeming "bigger" at various junctures--don't be misled. It is still a very elegant wine, not a blockbuster style.

(Tasted blind in Porto.) Very strong floral notes – almost soapy they are so obvious! Easy, fruity palate entry though the wine tightens up towards the end. Dry finish and some slightly rough tannins. (JR)
Violets, black cherries, high tannic structure, really savoury and gutsy. Hearty and strong – made of girders, perhaps? (RH)
