2017 Domaine Vacheron Sancerre Le Paradis

From a steep, south-facing vineyard on "caillottes" clay-over-limestone soils, the intensely yellow-golden colored 2017 Sancerre Le Paradis opens enormously dense, ripe and yeasty on the nose that exhibits dried apple aromas, representing a rather matured wine. Full-bodied, dense and powerful on the palate, this crystalline and salty Sancerre develops a concentrated, powerful and tight structure and a forceful finish that is complex but also a bit numbing and drying on the aftertaste. I'd keep the wine for another year, as it's in a small valley right now perhaps? Tasted in February 2021.
