Tasting notes
Bright, dark red. Reserved aromas of dark raspberry, licorice, menthol and exotic spices, with a touch of leathery rusticity. A bit more pliant than the Aloxe-Corton, offering savory flavors of redcurrant, minerals, spices and earth. Finishes quite firm, with a slightly tart note of cranberry, but the tannins avoid dryness, allowing the finish to build.

The 2016 Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Peuillets consists of just two and a half barrels this year due to the frost. Here, I detected just a slight note of volatile acidity on the nose. The palate is more controlled and focused, quite soft in texture with smudged black fruit, but the finish was missing the structure and tension of the excellent 2015 that I tasted last year.
