Score 93/100 · Drink 2001-2013, Pierre Rovani, Aug 2001

The dark ruby-colored 1999 Chambertin Clos de Beze has intense black cherry aromas. Chewy-textured and masculine, this is a dense, powerful, blackberry and cassis liqueur-flavored wine. It is fresh, loaded with super-ripe tannin and possesses an extraordinarily long, supple, sweet finish. Drink it over the next 12 years. Importer: David Hinkle / Peter Vezan, North Berkeley Imports, Berkeley, CA; tel. (800) 266-6585.
