Aromatically muted the day of my tasting, the Batard-Montrachet has mouth-coating richness, a medium-to-full body, and excellent depth of fruit. Flavors of pears, apples, and a judicious amount of oak spices make up this well-crafted wine's flavor profile. Projected maturity: 2000-2005. Importer: Dreyfus Ashby, New York, NY; tel (212) 818-0770.
