Score 94-96/100 · Drink 2002-2020, Robert Parker, Dec 2000
The 1999 Cuvee Lola, a blend dominated by Cabernet Franc (about 75%, with small quantities of Petit Verdot, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon added in) is sensational (375 cases; a "modest" 15.3% alcohol). The wine offers an opaque blue/purple color and an exquisite nose of liquid minerals, black fruits, and spice. Dense, huge, and full-bodied, yet at the same time, remarkably elegant and graceful, it is a tour de force in winemaking, representing a brilliant marriage of power and finesse. Because of the slightly firm tannins in the finish, it will need 2-3 years of cellaring, but should keep 20+ years. (Release date 08/01) Tel. 707-963-1774; Fax 707-963-8206
