1994 Cristom Pinot Noir Mt. Jefferson Cuvée

Readers looking for a lush Beaune premier cru-styled wine with gobs of black-cherry fruit, a round, generous, plush texture, medium to full body, and no hard edges, should check out the 1994 Pinot Noir Mt. Jefferson Cuvee. This is an immensely seductive Pinot, with a medium ruby color, low acidity, and convincingly charming ripeness and flavors. Drink it over the next 4-5 years. Former Easterner and Burgundy lover Paul Gerrie had the foresight to hire from Josh Jensen's Calera Vineyards, winemaker Steve Doener. This team appears to be on the verge of exploiting Christom's full potential. Christom is one of only a handful of Oregon Pinot Noir estates to not destem, preferring to utilize the stems during the vinification. In Burgundy, this practice has largely fallen out of favor, with the exception of the Domaine de la Romanee-Conti, Domaine Dujac, Domaine l'Arlot, and in some vintages, Domaine Leroy. Tel.
