Score 93/100 · Drink 2022-2042, Neal Martin, Mar 2023

The 2010 Haut-Bergeron has an attractive nose with scents of white peach, honey, orchard fruit and chamomile, all well-defined. The palate is well-balanced with a pure entry, very fine acidity, taut and fresh with a linear, focused finish. This is a superbly-crafted Sauternes that should age well over the next two decades. Tasted at a vertical at the château.

The 2010 Chateau Haut Bergeron exhibits a touch of petrol on the Riesling-like nose, complemented by almond paste, pear and clear honey, all with fine definition. There is an attractive effervescence on the entry, with hints of orange zest interlacing the botrytized fruit, leading to a precise finish with good length.

Rich and spicy and dancing with real lift and interest. Lovely heel kicking on the end – and great persistence but quite forward. (JR)
