(35% malbec, 25% cabernet sauvignon, 23% merlot, 12% tannat and 5% petit verdot) Bright ruby-red. Liqueur-like aromas of black cherry, cassis and licorice. Fat and pliant on the palate, with sweet cherry and chocolate flavors lifted by black pepper and sound acidity. On the simple side but finishes with fairly sweet, soft tannins.

The 2006 Gran Corte is composed of 45% Malbec, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 3% Tannat, and 3% Petit Verdot aged in French oak. Deep crimson-colored, it has a complex aromatic array of cedar, leather, spice box, mineral, black currant, and black cherry. Medium-bodied, firmly structured, and concentrated, it has outstanding depth, savory flavors, and a 45-second finish. Drink it from 2012 to 2021. All of the wines from Bodegas Y Vinedos’ Hugo Y Eduardo Pulenta are sourced from a 135 hectare vineyard in Alto Agrelo, Lujan de Cuyo, Mendoza at almost 1000 meters of elevation. 45% Malbec, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot, 3% Tannat; aged for 12 months in new French oak . Just bottled. Quite complex. They just compared all the vintages of this wine, apparently, and the 2006 showed really well, as did the 2003. Exciting, sweet, easy, chewy. Slightly astringent, however. Very expressive. (JR)
