The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Kashmir is another gorgeous, expressive wine from Kamen. Black cherry jam, tobacco, mocha and a generous kiss of new French oak are front and center. The warm growing season produced tiny berries and some of the lowest yields ever here. All of that natural richness comes through loud and clear.

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Kashmir (100% Cabernet) is deep garnet-purple colored and a little reticent to begin, giving way to fragrant notes of candied violets, chocolate box and warm cassis with hints of blueberries, camphor and hoisin plus a hint of tobacco. Full, firm and with compelling freshness, the palate has an amazing core of tightly wound, muscular fruit and finishes on a mineral note.
The 2015 Kashmir, the estate's top Cabernet, is sumptuous and opulent, but also medium in body relative to the typical feel of this wine, something that I saw in many 2015s. Crème de cassis, blueberry jam, sweet spice, lavender and mint all flesh out in this super-expressive Cabernet Sauvignon from Kamen and winemaker Mark Herold.
