The 2001 Zinfandel Jackass Hill is medium garnet-brick colored and has a very earthy bouquet of damp soil, ceps and truffles with a core of licorice and stewed plums plus a touch of spice box. Full-bodied with a blockbuster palate of concentrated earth and dried plums layers, it finishes long and chewy.

(15.8% alcohol) Good medium ruby. Dark fruits, sassafras and smoke on the ripe, deep nose. Fat, sweet and rich, with lovely depth of flavor. Very long and complex on the back, with thoroughly ripe, fine tannins. Lovely mellow zinfandel.

Martinelli

Martinelli is a Sonoma benchmark for vineyard-designate bottlings—wines built to highlight how strongly a single site can shape Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Zinfandel. Across the range, the focus stays consistent: small-production bottlings that feel distinctly tied to where they’re grown.
