Tasting notes
The 2018 Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru is showing brilliantly, unfurling in the glass with a youthfully reserved bouquet of rose petals, raspberries, sweet soil tones, bergamot, smoked tea and musk. Full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, it's deep and concentrated, with a tightly wound core, lively acids and supple, powdery tannins, concluding with a resonant finish. This is Romanée-Saint-Vivant at its most elegant and sensual, and even if a decade of bottle age is in order, its superb quality is already glaringly apparent.

The 2018 Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru, which comprises three-and-a-half barrels this year, has a highly perfumed, floral bouquet with pressed iris petals and incense infusing the intense black fruit. The medium-bodied palate features slightly chalky tannins. Very fresh and lively, with a powerful, mineral-driven finish that belies the warm vintage. This a cool, calm and collected Romanée-Saint-Vivant.
