Score 92/100 · Audrey Frick, jebdunnuck.com, Aug 2025

A similar medium red, lightly hazy hue, the 2023 Pinot Noir Pelos Sandberg Vineyard lifts with spicy aromatics of clove, juniper berries, baking spice, and violets. Medium-bodied, it’s more primary noted on the palate, with a silky, even texture and its sweet spices lasting on the finish. This is another charming wine in the range with a lot to enjoy over the coming 7-10 years.

Unfined and unfiltered. Pommard, 777 and Wädenswil clones. 100% whole-cluster fermentation with ambient yeasts. Pale ruby. Wet mulch, peony and stemmy spice. Fresh and herbal with a balance of sweet red fruit. Sinewy lean tannin structure with a light peaty smokiness to the finish. (SCJ)

The 2023 Pinot Noir Pelos Sandberg Vineyard wafts up with a human catnip bouquet of crushed violet and lavender pastille, complicated by nuances of incense and blood orange before revealing crushed black cherries. Silken yet lifted and spry, it shows noticeable minerality up front as tart wild berry fruits and citrus tones cascade throughout. Gently spicy and incredibly long, it leaves a bump of residual acidity and tart blackberry concentration that lingers. While the 2023 may not possess the upfront intensity of the 2022, it remains impactful, balanced and one of the most interesting Pinot Noirs in the Big Table Farm portfolio.
