Much more sophisticated nose than the two earlier vintages. Savoury and with a hint of violets. Quite marked tannins but the fruit quality is excellent. Still giving pleasure. Nice freshness. (JR)

Domaine Drouhin's 1990 Pinot Noir is a soft, elegant wine with an attractive black-cherry and toasty new oak-scented nose. Well-structured flavors exhibit fine ripeness and texture as well as moderate length and noticeable tannins. Drink it over the next 4-5 years. It has more than a casual resemblance to a top Cote de Beaune.
