Tasting notes
I’ve been lucky enough to drink through numerous bottles of the 2007 Gigondas Hominis Fides and it’s been incredibly consistent for me. It’s certainly the greatest Gigondas I’ve ever tasted and possibly the greatest Gigondas ever made. Giving up a heavenly bouquet of garrigue, graphite, crushed rocks, licorice and assorted red and black fruits, this beauty hits the palate with full-bodied richness and a profound seamlessness that belies its richness and depth. It has sweet tannin and a wealth of fruit and will continue drinking beautifully for another two decades. Hats off to winemaker Louis Barruol for this incredible wine!

Glass-staining ruby. Exotically perfumed bouquet offers an expansive array of red and dark berry, floral and spice scents. Raspberry, mulberry and lavender pastille flavors are strikingly pure and concentrated but not heavy, benefiting from a suave spiciness and good mineral lift. The finish is sweet, penetrating and exceptionally long, leaving lush red fruit and floral notes behind.
Saturated ruby. Lively, precise redcurrant, raspberry, anise and smoky herbal aromas are impressively pure and expansive. Deep and sweet, with a velvety texture, lush red berry preserve flavors and an undercurrent of spices and herbs. Very fresh and sappy on the finish, with the anise note repeating. This is 100% grenache.
