Tasting notes
Inky ruby. Powerful, mineral-and spice-accented cherry, black currant, licorice and vanilla aromas show fine clarity and a hint of smokiness. Deeply concentrated, sharply focused, spice-laced bitter cherry, dark berry, mocha and fruitcake flavors turn livelier as the wine opens up. A suave floral note emerges on the impressively long and precise finish, which is given shape by polished, steadily building tannins. All new French oak.

The 2019 L'Insolent is a finished barrel sample due to be bottled in August 2021. It has an opaque ruby-purple color and scents of cassis with notes of cracked pepper, coffee beans, aniseed and dark earth. The full-bodied palate is velvety in texture with an interplay of dense fruit and earthy nuances, just enough freshness and a long, mineral-laced finish.
A blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Petit Verdot, and the rest Cabernet Franc, the 2019 L'Insolent looks to be a pretty, medium to full-bodied, incredibly elegant red offering classy notes of cassis, green tobacco, white truffle, and cedar pencil. It builds nicely with time in the glass, has plenty of tannins, and is going to need 3-5 years of bottle age.
