Tasting notes
(these vines now average 30 years of age): Healthy pale yellow. Pungent aromas of citrus peel, hazelnut and flowers. Fresh, sappy wine with underlying minerality giving it a firm shape. Displays the enticing sugar/acid balance that's typical of this cuvée . (Incidentally, Bachelet-Monnot's Bourgogne Blanc communicates a Puligny-like reserve, with a silky, lemony, classically dry middle palate leading to a distinctly chalky finish. I rated this wine 88 points.)

The 2014 Maranges 1er Cru la Fussière Blanc has a little more exoticism on the nose thanks to a cheeky dab of peppermint tincturing the citrus and lime fruit. The palate is well balanced with good density, again, quite saline in the mouth with kiwi fruit, lime and lemon zest towards the energetic finish. It is not quite as persistent as the Santenay Blanc, but it will drink beautifully for 5-8 years, possibly longer.
Green-tinged yellow. More complex and less fruity on the nose than the Santenay, offering notes of stone and flowers plus a trace of appley malic acidity. Shows lovely density to its apple and pear flavors and a firm aftertaste.
