(from 45-year-old vines): Medium ruby-red. Deep aromas of blackberry, blueberry, licorice, crushed stone and bitter chocolate; a step up in class and complexity from the Jouises. Deep, sappy, concentrated wine with a tactile quality to its complex, very intense dark berry, spice and saline mineral flavors. Finishes with serious but suave tannins, lovely mineral pungency and slowly rising length. This very stylish, classically dry Gevrey premier cru really calls for at least five years of cellaring.
