Score 94/100 · Drink 2020-2030, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Apr 2018
Ross Cobb's 2015 Pinot Noir Jack Hill is deep and powerful. That's the good news. The bad news is that the 2015 won't be ready to drink anytime soon, as the firm tannins need time to soften. This is an especially powerful, tightly wound Pinot for the year. Sweet red cherry, tobacco, mint, dried flowers and licorice overtones open up, but only with great reluctance. The interplay of fruit richness and structure makes for a compelling wine, but readers need to be patient. The wait will be worth it, as this is a stunning wine by any measure.
