The 2013 Pinot Noir Freedom Hill Vineyard Coury Clone comes from part of the vineyard planted in 2000; it includes one-third whole cluster and was raised in 50% new oak. It has a well-defined and expressive bouquet, a mixture of red and black fruit with nicely assimilated oak lending it lift. The palate is medium-bodied and more succulent than the Dijon 115 clone, fleshier in texture, though perhaps without quite the same tension on the finish. It perhaps just lacks a little complexity, yet there is decent length, if not the intellectual capacity of some of Patricia Green's other recent releases.

Vivid red. Lively redcurrant and bitter cherry aromas are complemented by suggestions of tea rose and musky rhubarb. Spicy and focused on the palate, offering intense red fruit flavors that deepen in the mid-palate. Shows an alluring sweetness on the long, floral finish, which is given shape by sneaky tannins.
