Score 89/100 · Drink 2003-2009, Pierre Rovani, Apr 2003

Produced from yields of 34 hectoliters per hectare, the 2001 Nuits-St.-Georges Clos des Argillieres Vieilles Vignes has a kinky ("smoked horse meat," said one of the tasters), toasty, black fruit-scented nose. Light to medium-bodied, with loads of depth, it is a dark cherry-flavored wine spiked with copious amounts of spices and minerals. It should be consumed over the next 5-6 years. *Note: This wine is a "Cuvee Unique" fashioned exclusively for the estate's U. S. importer. Importer: David Hinkle / Peter Vezan, North Berkeley Imports, Berkeley, CA; tel. (800) 266-6585
