Tasting notes
While this wine has just been reviewed (April 2025), I felt it necessary to include it in this vertical tasting of Les Amis Grenache. So, this note will attract the same score as last time but will couch its style in a broader context of the vintages tasted alongside it. Here, the 2022 Les Amis Grenache leads with rose petals and crushed peppercorns, layers of graphite and exotic spice. The wine has delicacy and restraint, in line with many observations of 2022 red wines from South Australia. It is a vintage that's impossible to dislike and is pretty, balanced, detailed and approachable now, as is this wine. This feels lighter/redder/more floral than the vintages preceding it in its fruit character. 15% alcohol, sealed under natural cork.

Meaty and savory, with aromas of blood plums, iodine, fresh herbs, graphite, licorice and eucalyptus. The palate is full-bodied with silky yet firmly framed tannins and flavors of pomegranates, dark chocolate, mulberries and black olives. Well balanced and poised. Drink or hold.
