Tasting notes
The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Aux Cras 1er Cru has a slightly leathery nose, but there is plenty of fruit here. There’s some reduction to contend with, but time will address that. The palate is very pure and vivacious, emanating red fruit, orange rind and spices. Beautifully balanced, with palpable tension that binds together the finish and imparts superior focus to many of its peers, it's too young to broach at the moment, but there is great potential here. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2019 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Cras is rich and brooding, unwinding in the glass with aromas of dark berry fruits, warm spices, baking chocolate, espresso roast and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, it's elegantly muscular, with melting tannins and a lusty, oak-inflected finish.
The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Aux Cras 1er Cru has a gorgeous bouquet of well-defined, mineral-rich black cherry and wild strawberry fruit, energetic and poised; these are wonderful aromatics. The palate is medium-bodied and silky-smooth with supple tannins and a lush but supremely well-controlled finish. Touches of brine linger on the aftertaste. This is a gorgeous Aux Cras from start to finish.
