This vineyard always seems to leave me wanting, yet the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Stagecoach Vineyard is undeniably outstanding. Possessing an herbal edge to its blackcurrant, damp earth, smoke tobacco and wet gravel-laced bouquet it’s medium to full-bodied, fresh and elegant on the palate, with good concentration and purity. Like a lot of these 2014s from this estate, it has solid mid-palate density and building tannin, so there is certainly plenty of upside here. Along with consultant Michel Rolland, winemaker Jean Hoefliger has produced an incredible number of killer wines in 2014 and 2015. If you’re interested in learning about all the various sites throughout the Valley, this is a good place to start.

From the eastern hillsides of Napa, south of St. Helena, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Stagecoach Vineyard doesn’t have the depth of some of the other Cabernet Sauvignons and edges toward a more monolithic style of Cabernet, but there are some earthy, spicy, gravelly notes as well as some rugged tannins and red and blackcurrants in abundance. This wine argues for several years of bottle age and should drink well for a quarter of a century.
Alpha Omega's 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Stagecoach Vineyard is full of inky blue and purplish fruit, sweet oak and chocolate notes. There is no shortage of depth and intensity in the glass, but very less in the way of true mountain character.
