Tasting notes
Vivid purple. A hugely perfumed bouquet evokes ripe dark berries, potpourri, sandalwood and smoky Indian spices. At once rich and energetic, offering chewy, deeply pitched flavors of sweet black and blue fruits, violet pastille and spicecake. Dense yet showing improbable elegance, this beauty finishes with outstanding focus and thrust and a whiplash of dark fruits and candied flowers.

Another more forward and charming 2011, the 2011 Syrah Lorraine has lots of black raspberry, toasted spice, vanilla bean and licorice notes in its medium to full-bodied, supple, pretty and elegant character. It didn't possess the mid-palate depth or density that I recall from last year, but is still a beautiful Syrah.
