Tasting notes
One of the finest Chardonnays in this report, the 2017 Chardonnay Eterium comes from the BA Theriot Vineyard way out on the Sonoma Coast and was fermented and aged in 70% new French oak. This stunning, flawlessly put together Chardonnay offers a kaleidoscope of white currants, stone fruits, honeyed minerality, toasted nuts, and spice on the nose. Reminding me of a great Montrachet with its powerful, regal, yet vibrant profile, it has no hard edges, a vibrant, racy style, building richness, and a finish that won’t quit. It’s one of the finest Chardonnays I’ve ever tasted from California. Drink it any time over the coming decade.

From the B.A. Thieriot vineyard, the 2017 Chardonnay Eterium sings of warm pineapple, apple tart, warm apricots, spice cake, crème brûlée, paraffin wax and acacia honey. Medium to full-bodied, the electrically charged palate is very refreshing and crisp with super-intense tropical and stone fruit flavors and a satiny texture, finishing long and layered. 102 cases were made.
