Tasting notes
All from a great vineyard in the cooler Coombsville appellation, the 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Perseid sports a dense purple hue to go with darker, palate-coating aromas and flavors of blackcurrants, blackberries, liquid rock, dark chocolate, and graphite. This concentrated, powerful, burly Cabernet is a touch foursquare today, but I suspect it will gain more elegance with 2-4 years (or more) of bottle age.

Full bottle 1,355 g. This is the volcanic stony vineyard in Coombsville from which Andy Smith of DuMOL, inter alia, buys fruit. This wine is made by Bill and Dawnine Dyer (who also make their own version). Aged 22 months in French oak, 70% new. Blackish purple. Quite a subtle nose with some very fine tannins and marked acidity. No sign of smoke taint even if the fruit seems very slightly reined in. An appetising 2020 Napa Cab. (JR)
Crafted by veteran Napa winemakers Bill and Dawnine Dyer, the 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Perseid originates from proprietor Barry Shuler's Coombsville vineyard. Aged 22 months in 70% new French oak, it features notes of graham cracker, cassis and blackberry, plus a note of smoked meat. Full-bodied, concentrated and tannic, it looks potentially long-lived, with an intense but slightly rough-textured finish.
