Score 92-94/100 · Drink 2024-2042, Neal Martin, Jan 2019
The 2017 Echézeaux Grand Cru is matured entirely in new oak (two-and-a-half barrels), although unlike the Aux Reignots, I find this much more integrated with the wood, so that the red currant jus and raspberry scents are able to express themselves. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannin. There is plenty of energy here, veins of blood orange infusing the vibrant, energetic finish. It will require several years to absorb the oak, but this has great potential.
