Tasting notes
The 2012 Chardonnay Heintz Vineyard is quite closed today, but it nevertheless shows plenty of depth in the background just waiting to emerge. Apricot pit, peach, brioche and chamomile open up gradually with air. Heintz is known for textured Chardonnays, and there is plenty of that here, but at the same time, the aromatics show slight traces of volatility that mask the wine's overall focus.

Green-tinged gold. Explosively perfumed nose scents of smoky minerals, pear skin, iodine and white flowers, with an intense mineral overtone. Stains the palate with vibrant orchard fruit and mineral flavors accented by succulent herbs and gingery spices. Shows superb clarity and thrust on the incisive finish, with mineral and floral notes emphatically repeating.
