The 2012 Chardonnay Peter Martin Ray Vineyard is creamy and broad on the palate, yet retains a striking weightlessness that contrasts some of the more overt elements. Hints of almond, dried pear and spice wrap around a succulent, textured finish supported by insistent veins of salinity.

Pale gold. Expansive aromas and flavors of nectarine, jasmine, iodine and tarragon, with a strong mineral overtone. Weighty and broad on the palate but also dry and precise, showing serious Chablis-like character with California fruit power. The mineral quality dominates the finish, which clings with outstanding clarity and persistence.
The 2012 Chardonnay Peter Martin Ray opens with exquisite aromatics. Lemon peel, white flowers, crushed rocks and spices all meld together in a bright, focused Chardonnay that impresses for its energy, tension and salinity. This is a great example of Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay. I tasted the 2012 from tank.
