Score 90/100 · Drink 1993-2010, Robert Parker, Apr 1993

The 1988 Brunello di Montalcino offers a complex nose of roasted nuts, earth, and copious quantities of black fruits. Full-bodied yet rich and concentrated, with decent acidity, moderate tannins, and a terrific finish, this precocious yet muscular wine can be drunk now, but it has the requisite depth to last until 2010+. I remember having some wonderful Lisini Brunellos in the mid-seventies, after which the quality dropped. Since 1983, this firm has been making a comeback. Importer: Vinifera Imports, Ronkonkoma, NY.
