Tasting notes
As impressive as that is, slightly more impressive, more supple and complex is the 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve, a blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot. Opaque ruby/purple, with notes of spice box, toasty oak, black currant jam, and blackberries, it is layered, full-bodied, rich, expansive, and deep. With tannins more resolved and sweeter than the Leonardini, this wine can be drunk now or kept in the cellar for another 10-15+ years. Tel. (800) 963-9454; Fax (707) 963-7035

Bright medium ruby. Aromas of blackberry, blueberry and violet. Juicy, leanish and unevolved if densely packed, with tightly wound flavors of black fruits and violet. Showing limited complexity today but this very fresh wine may well evolve and deepen with time in bottle. This could hardly be more different in style from the winery's regular 2001 cabernet.
