Tasting notes
Charred oak and black fruit aromas can be discerned in the nose of the 2000 Pinot Noir Estate Reserve. A much more substantial wine than Belle Pente's regular Pinot offering, it has an expansive, yet structured character. Loads of black cherries and juicy blackberries are intermingled with hints of licorice in its firm personality as well as in its long finish. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2008. Tel. (503) 852-9500

Full red-ruby. Jammy blackberry and cherry syrup aromas, along with smoke, espresso, licorice and tarry, spicy oak; light but nagging suggestion of uncured barrel. Nicely concentrated and rich, with good texture and sweetness. But the strong oak tannins dry the center of the tongue. Finishes with decent length and a note of woodsmoke.
