Score 93/100 · Pierre Rovani, Jun 2001

The black cherry-scented, medium to dark ruby-colored 1999 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses is medium to full-bodied and opulent. It inundates the palate with loads of sweet cherries, candied raspberries, and juicy blackberries. It is a highly expressive wine with a decadently sweet, velvety character whose flavors last throughout its extraordinarily long finish. Deep red. Sweet aromas of black cherry, redcurrant and nutmeg. Penetrating, spicy and firm in the mouth; has more stuffing and weight than the Charmes but shows less complexity today and finishes a bit tougher. This will require four or five years of bottle aging.
