Score 17/20 · Drink 2027-2040, Jancis Robinson MW, May 2025

From a parcel of 40-year-old vines just below the official Grand Cru Schlossberg boundary, this cuvée is an homage to Cathy Faller’s late mother. RS 0.7 g/l, TA 5.3 g/l, pH 3.3. Certified biodynamic. Pale lemon-green. The aromas include a vast array of citrus fruit, from yuzu to orange and lime with an accent on the latter. The rest of the complex aroma is minerality, flint, smoke, green herbs, peach and melon. It’s dry with firm Riesling acidity and a richer texture than your average Schlossberg, but that’s to be expected as it comes from the bottom of the slope. It might appreciate time to become more expressive but it would already drink very well with lobster dishes and other fresh seafood. (BR)

The 2023 Riesling Cuvée Colette was picked in the lieu-dit Bonnes Terres, at the foot of the Schlossberg, with deep deposits of granitic sands. The vines used are up to 60 years old. The nose is subtle, offering only brief glimpses of wet stone and Mirabelle. The palate stretches out into lemony zestiness, with lovely dryness and that granitic, naked astringency akin to pith. On a granite hillside below Schlossberg so not a grand cru. Named in honour of Cathy Faller's late mother. Quite rich and broad and not the most persistent. Juicy and just a tad fat. Unlike its namesake … But with a nice kick on the end. (JR)
