Made from a high-density planting of 50% Sangiovese co-fermented with 50% Syrah. Floral accents with fresh red fruit sprinkled with dusty cocoa, earth and a touch of eucalyptus. A mineral – saline and limestone – tension and length. The mouthfeel of the 2012 is more tactile, and the tannins more firm in the 2012 than the 2013. Still with balancing acidity and lots of length. 2012 offers prettiness and nice flavour while also carrying less concentration on the palate and a slightly less refined quality overall than the 2013. Needs air upon opening. A little reserved currently. (ECB)

Inky ruby. Exotic aromas of dark berry liqueur, mocha, incense and candied licorice. Broad, creamy, sweet and deep on the palate, with suave Indian spice and smoke nuances accenting vibrant cherry and blackberry flavors. The spicy quality builds with air, adding vivacity and lift. Silky tannins come on late and add shape to the long, incisive finish, with the spice and berry notes echoing.
The 2012 La Croce is a 50/50 blend of cofermented Syrah and Sangiovese, both of which were harvested on the same day. Black cherry, leather, ground herbs and hints of dried flowers all show nicely here, and this medium-bodied, supple and elegant wine has at least 6-7 years of prime drinking.
