Tasting notes
A gorgeous effort that's loaded with ripe blackberry, pepper, graphite and crushed rock-like minerality, the 2014 Syrah Roasted Slope Vineyard (92% Syrah and 8% Viognier aged 18 months in 10% new French oak) is medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced and pure, with good freshness and ripe tannin. It's beautifully done and will keep for 7-8 years.

The 2014 Roasted Slope is dark, powerful and seductive. A virile, brooding wine, the 2014 possesses notable depth and intensity, with plenty of graphite, smoke and charcoal notes that add complexity throughout. Hints of lavender, mint and white flowers develop later around a core of inky blue and purplish fruit. This is another super-attractive, delicious, fruit-driven Syrah from Andrew Murray. There is plenty to like. The Roasted Slope is a barrel selection of sites on Alisos Canyon Road. Vineyard sources are Alisos, Watch Hill and Thompson.
