Uninteresting and slightly weedy, with some red and black fruits, pepper, and green herbs, the 2010 Château des Roques Vacqueyras is medium-bodied, tart, and lean. There are some redeeming qualities here, but not much.

(70% grenache and 15% each of mourvedre and syrah): Vivid ruby. High-pitched aromas of red berries and lavender, with a spicy topnote. Shows a darker character in the mouth, offering broad black raspberry and blueberry flavors and a touch of back-end warmth. In a rich style for the year, with no obvious tannins to get in the way of early drinking.

Mid ruby. Light and leathery on the nose. Rather dull but worthy. NO excess sweetness... Dries out on the finish. (JR)
